Josh Hoyer & Soul Colossal call out the chasm between word and action when those in power corrupt their message in "Sunday Lies." Hoyer observed that the voter dynamic is often swayed when politicians co-opt their platforms with religious messages and the blinders that inhibit people of faith to accept the truth. The song uses a looping, layers groove that propels the song under a gripping blend of jazz and blues changes to follow the vocal line. "Sunday Lies" is a keen example of the musical and interpersonal chemistry between Hoyer and producer Eddie Roberts and serves as a catalyst to pre-order his forthcoming record coming out in early 2021.
